KEiBA Awards 2020

Walker Construction are proud to announce that they will be sponsoring the Construction Project of the Year Award at KEiBA 2020.

KEiBA, Kent Excellence in Business Awards, is an annual awards ceremony that is staged and produced by KM Media Group and Kent County Council that recognises and rewards Kent’s and Medway’s businesses for their success and excellence in different categories.

Walker Construction chose to sponsor KEiBA 2020 because its remarkable ability to bring small and large businesses together. Not only does this event give you the chance to improve your brand awarness, but it also encourages growth, demonstrating the possibilities of collaborating with other Kent based businesses.

Steve Walker, chairman of Walker Construction, will be reviewing the entries, meeting with the companies that have submitted the entries and judging them by the category. Walker Construction won back in 2019 for the Family Business of the Year award, as commented by Steve Walker himself; “Wow! What a year it has been since the big win at KEiBA 2019. To be recognised as Family Business of the Year 2019 was a true honour. As a Kent based business of over 50 years, we have received far more PR exposure – as a result of KEiBA – than ever before. The award has been a real catalyst for boosting our profile in Kent. It is a privilege to have become a part of the KEiBA family, we’ve met so many outstanding businesses along our journey. The whole experience has been a joy and would highly recommend local businesses to get involved.”

We are sponsoring the Construction Project of the Year. This category is open to any business/organisation working on a regeneration, redevelopment or refurbishment project. This may include, but is not limited to, projects completed during 2019. Projects that have approved planning for 2020 are also eligible. Entrants should be able to show how the project has impacted (or will impact) the community. This includes opportunities for community development and involvement by way of employment, apprenticeships and training. Projects do not have to be in Kent, but the business/organisation must have a registered address in Kent and have been trading for a minimum of two years as of March 31, 2020.

As a judge, Steve Walker will be looking for success and achievements in the following areas:

  • Trends in business turnover and profit levels
  • Efficient use of public and private funding and investment
  • Sustainability in terms of environmental, economical and social outcomes
  • A positive impact on the community/area it is located within
