Walker Construction meticulously plan and strictly control the highest standards of health and safety on these sites which can range from primary schools to special needs schools and young offenders institutions.
St John's Primary School
St John’s Primary School project was a £1.2M refurbishment scheme. Encompassing the underpinning, Helifix, renovation, refurbishment and retrofitting to an old 1800’s school; including asbestos removal and mechanical & electrical re-design and improving the schools thermos efficiency.

We have completed the works on a £3.6 million project at Bishop Justus C of E School in Bromley, which comprised of the complete design, construction and completion of a series of one and two storey extensions, plus localised works to the existing building and construction of a small car park.

Works to the dentist surgery consisted of the reconfiguration of the internal building, refurbishment throughout the practice and the conversion of the first floor of the premises to incorporate three new dental surgery rooms, a conference room and two upgraded restroom facilities with generous disabled access incorporated throughout.

Walker Construction (leaguecommittee.com) Ltd were awarded the contract to build two new Fire and Rescue Stations at Rochester and Medway, the new Fire Station at Rochester is situated on a new site next to Rochester airport, the station also features a new state of the art Road Safety Centre attached to the station for training and educating the general public and schools, as well as a purpose built steel training tower building for Fire Officer training.

A major £2.5m redevelopment has been completed at Norman Tailyour House in central Deal. The project was to renovate the residential facility to provide 18 fully self-contained sheltered residential Council flats to Dover District Council. The renovated Council-owned building in Hope Road, Deal, includes 16 one-bedroom flats and 2 two-bedroom flats in a supported housing environment.

Flanchford Bridge
The beginning of this project consisted of the temporary damming of the River Mole to enable the existing bridge to be removed. We had to temporarily divert the utility services across the river using a scaffold bridge. Temporary foundations either side of the river were then created to support the heavy plant required to install the sheet piles and CFA Piles.

Dalston Kingsland Booking Hall
Walker Construction was employed to carry out refurbishment works at Dalston Kingsland Overground Station. The existing booking hall at the station was constructed in the 1980’s. It was decided due to increased usage of the Overground network the existing booking hall and gateline was insufficient to handle the passenger flow at peak times. To the immediate left of station was an existing disused retail unit that was to be incorporated into the station booking wall.

This project was to complete a Design & Build contract for the construction of a new 52 metre pedestrian/cycleway bridge. This included associated works of footpaths and lighting to provide access to the new Altira Business Park in Herne Bay, Kent in collaboration with NuSteel Structures, WSS Construction Consultants (our internal Design Division), Urban & Civic and Kent County Council.

May 2020 Walkers were instructed by Amco to undertake Platform Re-gauging works and Platform surfacing with block paving. Other works combined with the surfacing was the installation of new Aco drainage with a large capacity water soakaway system to the rear of the Platform.
